If you're a YouTube TV subscriber, there's a lot of new content coming your way later this year. Most streaming services usually won't tell you about something new until it's already happened, but YouTube TV is different. There have been several announcements recently about new channels and new features coming to YouTube TV.
Today we're going to break down all the new channels and new features coming to YouTube TV this summer.
Earlier this month, Sinclair Broadcasting Group and YouTube TV announced a new partnership to add Tennis Channel, T2, CHARGE! to YouTube TV. and TBD.
"We are delighted to have reached an agreement that brings Tennis Channel, T2 and all three of our emerging networks to YouTube TV, our valued partner," said Will Bell, SVP, head of distribution and network relations for Sinclair. “As the media landscape continues to evolve, our goal remains the same – to bring our unrivaled content to people wherever they want to enjoy it. With Roland-Garros starting on May 28, the timing is perfect for YouTube TV customers.”
These channels will join YouTube TV on June 1, 2023 and should be available in all markets.
YouTube TV also announced that Multiview and its picture quality will be improved this summer and fall.
Here's what YouTube TV has announced will be coming later this year:
Multiview: As many have noticed, we've started experimenting with the multiview feature. We rolled it out to all subscribers due to high demand during March Madness and are working on some improvements before the NFL season. Stay tuned for more specific updates as we get closer to the start of the season.
Image quality experiments: We're testing transcoding changes, including bitrate increases for live 1080p content over the next few weeks. These will target devices that support the VP9 codec with high-speed internet connections. If all goes well, we plan to make them permanent by this summer. More information to come!
